A SECONDARY school in Broomfield has been labelled as Good by inspectors.

Chelmer Valley High was given the grading by Ofsted after their officers visited the school in Court Road on November 14 and 15.

Their report published on Wednesday said the school’s headteacher David Franklin leadership skills are good and the students “enjoy” being there.

Inspectors added if the school is progress to the Outstanding grade, teachers must give more feedback to pupils and the speed of work has to be increased.

Despite not quite getting top marks, Mr Franklin said he was very happy with the result.

He said: “I am incredibly pleased with the outcome of the inspection.

“I am also very pleased the inspection team agreed with our self-evaluation that we should continue to work on improving students’ understanding through in depth questioning, providing students with even more detailed feedback and ensuring the pace of lessons is always fast.

“The report is overwhelmingly positive and we should all be immensely proud of what we have achieved, not only during Ofsted but each and every day.”

The report also states the school’s Sixth Form is good as students “rapid progress” thanks to the teaching and work programme set for them.

It was also noted bullying was “rare” at the school and pupils have a “positive attitude”.
