ARMED police stormed a flat in the early hours following a tip-off that a man wanted for attempted murder was hiding inside.

Neighbours told of their shock after they were awoken in their beds by the sound of about 30 officers, including armed police and dog units, descending on Moss Drive, Vange.

Officers raided the flat at 3.30am yesterday following reports that 19-year-old QueyWilliams–who is wanted by police on suspicion of attempted murder – had been seen at the flat.

Echo:

The Echo told earlier this week how Williams, who is known to have connections to the Dale Farm traveller site in Oak Lane, Crays Hill, Billericay, was believed to be on the run in the borough.

The teen is suspected of firing shots into a pick-up truck which was parked in Sainsbury’s on Brewery Road, Hoddesdon, in Hertfordshire on Halloween.

The windscreen was shattered in the attack, but the people in the vehicle were uninjured.

Williams is believed to have been spotted at the flat in Moss Drive on Tuesday, but when armed police stormed the home he had gone.

A man, seen being hauled in cuffs from the flat, was arrested on suspicion of harbouring the fugitive. However, the 32-year-old man has now been released without charge, but received a caution for a drug offence.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “Police were contacted shortly after 11pm on Tuesday following reports that Quey Williams was in a residential property in Moss Drive. Quey Williams is wanted by Hertfordshire police in connection with a shooting in Hoddeson on Tuesday, October 31.

“Essex Police officers attended a flat on Moss Drive at 3am on Wednesday and arrested a man on suspicion of assisting an offender.”

Police are still continuing to hunt Quey Williams. Anyone who spots him can call police on 101, 999 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
