A CASH top up card is being considered for car parks in Chelmsford.
During a Chelmsford Council cabinet meeting Ian Grundy, councillor responisble for safer communities, revealed the possibility of having an Oyster card-style system for pay and displays.
Earlier this year text payments were introduced at some car park sites in the city and Mr Grundy said different technology is will always be looked at.
However, he added the cash card idea still needs to be looked at in greater detail before any official plans are made.
He said: “Since introducing text and pay at some car parks we have had more than 7,000 transactions by text, which is good.
“Something else we will be exploring is the idea of a top up card which can be used at car parks, but it is something which has to be explored further.”
