Army & Navy roundabout closed for repair work
4:24pm Wednesday 30th October 2013 in News
A major roundabout in central Chelmsford was closed during Wednesday as workmen carried out repairs to a nearby roof partially torn off during Monday's storm.
The Army & Navy was closed to traffic for several hours as maintenance was carried out to the roof of the Travelodge hotel after chunks of it was ripped off in strong gusts of wind on Monday morning.
The road was reopened at around 3pm with large bits of debris from the building being fenced off just outside the Dreams bed store which is next to the roundabout.
The closure caused delays on neighbouring roads.
The Travelodge remains closed with guests being moved to another hotel owned by the company.
People living in neighbouring flats are also staying in nearby hotels while repairs are carried out due to safety reasons.
