A YOUNG man has been banned from driving after killing an elderly woman in a car crash last year.
Joshua Brookes, 20, from Parsonage Close, Broomfield, pleaded guilty at Chelmsford Crown Court today to causing death by dangerous driving.
He was handed a four month jail term which has been suspended for 12 months along with a three year driving ban.
At about 9.45am on March 30, 2012, Brookes lost control of his Citreon Saxo while driving down Waltham Road in Boreham causing him to go onto the opposite side of the road.
He hit the Vauxhall Agila driven by Jerzy Wartanowicz with his 78-year-old wife Jean sitting inside as passenger head on.
Mrs Wartanowicz died eight days later from injuries sustained during the crash.
