Storm blows roof off building by Army & Navy
9:25am Monday 28th October 2013 in News
PART of a hotel's roof was ripped off in Chelmsford city centre after strong winds blew through England.
The Travelodge building by the Army & Navy Roundabout saw part of its roof blow off due to the gusts which battered the city during one of the worst storms to hit the country in 26 years.
Traffic delays were caused around the centre of Chelmsford by the incident as debris lay in the road with the flyover being closed while a salvage operation was carried out.
A tree which fell on the A1114 Baddow By-pass also led to motorists being delayed while commuters were left with no Greater Anglia train service until 12pm as the company took precautions due to the weather conditions.
