Shops near hospital plan on ice

PLANS to build shops and offices near Broomfield Hospital have been deferred so car parking provision can be reconsidered.
Chelmsford Council’s planning committee decided to send back the proposal for a two-storey building on an old car park in The Windmills, Broomfield.
If granted, the structure would feature six units including a shop, cafe and a takeaway on the ground level plus three office spaces on the first floor.
However, major concerns were raised by committee members about the number of parking spaces, 16, mentioned in the plan.
Planning officers will now speak with the applicant and consider possible solutions before the proposal is brought back to the committee.
