Group set up to tackle anxiety

A HYPNOTHERAPIST from Chelmsford has set up a group to help people suffering from anxiety.
Mind Over Confidence will meet for the first time at Writtle Village Hall on November 4 to offer help eliminate a phobia, high stress levels or anxiety.
The group has been set up by hypnotherapist Jo Clark, who already works with clients in Chelmsford, Broxbourne, Woodford and Enfield.
Techniques being used in the sessions will be based on neurolinguistic programming, hypnosis and cognitive behavioural therapy to help clients think and take control of their fears and problems.
Relaxation exercises will also be taught by Mrs Clark, who said she established the group as she noticed many of her own clients coming in with similar issues.
She added: “Anxiety causes physical and emotional distress, ill health and ultimately premature death.
“The reason I have set up a group is because the group dynamic works well in other therapy areas I have been involved in.
“It’s that sense of not being alone, having the support of fellow members, motivation and sharing of experience, as well as being able to offer affordable therapy, which may be the tipping point for some people.”
With the help of the techniques used during the meetings, Mrs Clark believes people will be able to feel significant changes quite quickly.
She said: “Anxiety can be reduced massively within the first one or two sessions by teaching clients techniques that help them change their state, so they can manage the fear provoking situation.”
Sessions, which last 90 minutes, cost £15 each and are run over a course lasting five weeks.
