Courses for people with mental illness
6:30am Monday 21st October 2013 in News
A CENTRE offering courses for people with mental illnesses and their carers has opened in Chelmsford.
The Recovery College, in Atholl House, had its ribbon cutting ceremony with NHS North Essex Partnership trust chief executive Andrew Geldard present at the event.
Classes will be run through the centre, on the corner of Duke Street and Victoria Road, allowing people with a mental illness, their families and medical staff to learn more about the conditions.
The courses organised by them will be held in classrooms at colleges around Chelmsford, Witham and Maldon.
Mr Geldard said: “We know one in four people do not seek help for mental illness and here is a chance to help yourself.
“We are giving people the skills they need to help themselves with their recovery.”
