Street dance, toddler style
1:06pm Friday 11th October 2013 in News
TRENDY toddlers are swapping nursery rhymes for MC Hammer as they take part in a street dance class.
Mum-of-two Katharine Grant launched the class last week at the Black Notley Community Association in John Ray Gardens.
The 33-year-old, of Wood Street, Chelmsford, began the toddler lessons near her home in January.
She first began teaching street dancing to teenagers in 2006, while working as a probation officer.
But her children Ezra, two, and 13-month-old Aria, sparked a change in career.
She said: “We start with a warm-up using Polly the Parrot. We do things like heads, shoulders, knees and toes but in a hip hop style.
“We do a lot of freestyle and if the children have a request, the mums let me know.”
