A TEENAGER who was one of Essex Police’s most wanted men has appeared in court over armed robbery charges.
Jake Baker, 19, of Treebeard Copse, South Woodham Ferrers, appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Monday after being arrested and charged over the weekend.
Baker is accused of holding up a Ladbrokes bookmakers shop in Hullbridge Road, South Woodham Ferrers, at about 3.30pm on September 22 with a black handgun.
It is alleged he forced staff to hand over a four-figure sum of cash before running away. Nobody was hurt.
He was also charged in relation to an incident at the Premier Stores, in Broadway, Jaywick, on October 3.
Jointly charged with Baker in the Jaywick incident is Jordan Russell, 31, of Sea Cornflower Way, Jaywick, who appeared at the same court on Monday.
No plea was taken from either defendant with a plea and case management hearing due to take place at Chelmsford Crown Court on December 16.
Also arrested was Cheryl Walford, 23, of Thorpedene Avenue, Hullbridge, who has been charged with assisting an offender.
She has been bailed to appear at the same court on October 23.
A 41-year-old woman arrested following an operation in Jaywick on October 4 has been bailed pending further inquiries until November 8 in relation to assisting an offender.
