10:13am Thursday 3rd October 2013 in News
A road has been closed as the emergency services remove chemicals, believed to have been involved in the production of drugs.
Police and other emergency services were called at 5.07pm yesterday to an address at New London Road, Chelmsford following concerns over a number of chemicals that had been taken to the location.
Five people were taken to hospital for check-ups as a precaution.
As a result of further enquiries police went to an address in the Melbourne area of Chelmsford, where they found further chemicals, which are believed to be connected to drugs production.
A man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the manufacture of drugs and he remains in custody this morning.
A section of North Avenue has been closed off as a precaution while specialist officers from police, fire brigade and the ambulance service remove the chemicals.
The emergency services are satisfied that the chemicals within the property are in a stable condition and there is no immediate risk to members of the public.
Arrangements are being made for the safe removal of the substances from the house.
