Man grew drugs in flat

A MAN has avoided a jail sentence for growing cannabis at his Chelmsford home.
A court heard police found 21 plants growing in a tent at Barry Moorhead’s flat, at Callow Court, in Seymour Street.
Officers discovered a sophisticated growing system with lights, a timer and books on how to grow the drugs on February 19.
Chelmford Crown Court also heard 38-year-old Moorhead had a previous conviction for growing cannabis.
He admitted producing the drug when he appeared in court for sentence and was jailed for six months, suspended for two years.
His barrister, Emma Nash, told the court Moorhead had significant mental health problems and would benefit from help.
