A TAXI driver will stand trial after denying he assaulted another man outside a apartment block by Chelmsford station.
Mehdi Masoudi, 30, of Newtown Drive, Birmingham, pleaded not guilty at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court to assault causing actual bodily harm and possessing an offensive weapon in public charges.
Masoudi has been accused of attacking Isaac Carter with an towing eye outside the Wells Crescent complex in Viaduct Road on June 12.
He will now reappear at Chelmsford Crown Court for trial after magistrate Amanda Gotham declined jurisdiction of the case.
This is due to the fact if Masoudi is found guilty during the trial of the offences he is charged with, a magistrate would not have strong enough sentencing powers to apply to the defendant.
Masoudi was granted bail with the condition he should not contact with Mr Carter or enter Wells Crescent and is due to make his first appearance at crown court on September 16.
