A PAEDOPHILE admitted making and distributing more than 1,000 pornographic pictures and films with young girls and animals.

Andrew Leigh, 22, of Goshawk Drive, Galleywood, pleaded guilty at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court to 14 separate charges of having indecent sexual material, some of which was described as “extreme”.

In total, the number of photographs and films found during a raid of Leigh’s home on June 20 last year by Essex Police, tallies up to 1,223 articles.

These vary between images of girls mainly aged between six and seven years old while others feature animals.

During the hearing last week, prosecuting solicitor Sharon Hall told the court the defendant admitted to police he had exchanged the material via online file sharing sites.

Leigh, who wore a grey suit and blue tie, will be sentenced at Chelmsford Crown Court on May 2 and was given unconditional bail by magistrate Dawn Roche.

He will also be placed on the sexual offenders register.
