Association set up for Admiral residents
7:10am Friday 22nd March 2013 in News
A UNITED voice for residents living near a popular park in Chelmsford is the main aim of a new association.
The inaugural meeting of the Admiral Park Residents’ Assocation will be at 7pm in the Black Bull pub in Rainsford Road on April 16.
Starting up the group has been a project led by Tony O’Donnell, of Park Avenue, and Margaret Moy, co-owner of Gibsons cornershop in Rainsford Road.
Mr O’Donnell, who has lived near the park for ten years, first came up with the idea as he felt there needed to be a group who could represent not only residents but also those who regularly use Admirals Park.
He said: “We haven’t got a strict geographical boundary as to who can join as we want people who live near the park and those who visit it a lot to be able to have a say.
“I love living here, but I would love to see some community spirit built up.”
Ms Moy added: “What we want is to have an organised voice for our community for any problems that do come up while at the same time make it a nicer place to live around here.
“Before I moved here 12 years ago there was a really good community spirit with events like barbecues arranged in the summer, which would be good to bring back.”
Ahead of the first meeting the pair have produce a list of key issues such as traffic, planning, police action and speeding motorists.
However, Mr O’Donnell said they want to hear from as many people as possible because the association is there for residents to air their views.
He added: “It’s about what the people want. We’ve thought of a few key issues, but someone else from around here might have an issue they want to raise.”
A Facebook page has been set up for the association along with an e-mail account, admiralsparkra@gmail.com
