7:00am Thursday 21st March 2013 in News
TWO men have been fined after admitting assaulting security staff and police officers.
Luke Kelly, 23, of Deerleap Way, Braintree, and Josh Nash, of Feering Hill, Feering, were fined £245 and £145 respectively at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court last Wednesday.
The friends, who were also given community orders, admitted drunk and disorderly behaviour charges after an incident at Evoke nightclub, in Market Road, Chelmsford, on February 23.
Kelly also pleaded guilty to a charge of assault by beating on club doorman Adam Hands who was headbutted as he ejected the defendant from the venue.
Mr Hands was left with bruising just under his right eye from the blow.
On top of Nash’s alcohol-related charge, he also admitted assaulting PC Samuel Benfield by pushing him in the chest.
The court heard Nash apologised to the officer hours later at Chelmsford police station.
Both defendants will serve their community orders out at the Attendance Centre in Chelmsford over the next six months with each being required to complete 24 hours in total.
