Chelmsford City helping in betting investigation

Officials from Chelmsford City have said they are assisting with an investigation looking at irregular betting patterns in the Conference South.

The Football Association and Gambling Commission are looking at activity on a number of fixtures in the league where the Clarets currently sit in fourth position.

All 22 clubs from the league have been contacted by investigators.

A spokesman for Chelmsford City said: "We have been contacted by authorities to discuss these circumstances, and will continue to cooperate with their enquiries.

"The FA and the Gambling Commission are looking into betting activity on a number of fixtures played in the Conference South and all member clubs have been approached.

"We understand our responsibilities under the betting and integrity rules of The FA and will be making no further comment on this matter."
