Orchestra's gala charity concert

THE Essex Wind Orchestra, Caprice, is holding a gala charity concert in Chelmsford to boost funds for Diabetes UK.

The night of music, on Saturday, March 9, at Christchurch, New London Road, is the 108th concert that Caprice has performed since its formation in 1989.

The orchestra’s impressive fundraising total stands at more than £140,000, with Diabetes UK the latest lucky charity selected to benefit.

Nick Pattie, who plays the French Horn with Caprice, said: “We have two members who are insulin dependent living with diabetes and many more through the wider Caprice family.

“We wanted to support Diabetes UK to raise money to help search for a permanent cure for the condition and help prevent the serious long term effects that the condition can lead to.”

Tickets are £10 and available from the orchestra manager on 01245 260503. The concert starts at 7.30pm, with doors open from 6.50pm.
