Postie gets cracking with prostate cancer bid

A POSTMAN has been cracking nuts as part of a campaign to raise awareness of prostate cancer.

Richard Littlefield, who works at the delivery office in South Woodham Ferrers, used a sledgehammer to smash up walnuts each time a £5 donation was made to Prostate Cancer UK.

The stunt was part of a current campaign from the charity urging men to check their prostate glands, which are about the size of a walnut, for lumps.

Each year in Essex more than 800 men are diagnosed with the condition and Mr Littlefield said he enjoyed getting to smash the nuts with a sledgehammer.

“This was a fun way of raising awareness for a very serious disease that affects so many men throughout the UK,” he said.
