A man who was found with serious wounds to his abdomen is refusing to assist police with their enquiries.

Police are investigating the circumstances which led to a 25 year old man from Chelmsford being taken to hospital with a wound to his abdomen.

He was found in New Writtle Street, at the junction of New London Road in Chelmsford yesterday at around 3.20 pm.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance.

He received immediate medical aid and his condition is now described as serious but not life threatening.

Police believe that the incident may have occurred in the Wolseley Road area and are appealing for anyone with any witness information to contact the CID office at Chelmsford police station on 101.
