Man killed in A414 car crash

A DRIVER was killed after being involved in a car crash on a major road just outside of Writtle.

The man in his 30s from Chelmsford was pronounced dead at the scene of the smash on the A414 near Cooksmill Green.

The incident happened at about 6.45pm on Friday when the silver-coloured Citreon Xsara being driven by the man collided with a silver VW Caddy.

Police closed the road off until 12midnight while they carried out their investigations.

The female driver of the VW was treated for serious leg injuries and was taken to Broomfield Hospital.
