Cycle ride to help tackle rare condition

CYCLISTS are being sought to take part in a charity bike ride to help a sick girl with a rare disorder.

Mark Dudley is organising a 500 mile round cycle trip to raise money to help little Indie Smith, who suffers from Atypical Haemolytic-Uraemic Syndrome.

The condition causes red blood cells to be destroyed, liver failure and low platelet count.

Mr Dudley is looking to hold the ride, being called the Indie 500, which will start and finish in Chelmsford in August to help pay for medical treatment for the toddler.

Ahead of setting out the route, he wants cyclists who would be interested in taking part to come forward.

Mr Dudley said: “We have a group of ten people who have so far said they will participate, but I would like to hear from others who want to be part of this ride which is for a good cause.

“We will be looking at riding 100 miles a day starting outside the Cycle UK store in Chelmsford, as they are supporting us as well.”

For more details about participating, contact Mr Dudley on 07789 964499 or e-mail mdudley@sutton.eu
