Simon Burns on the locomotive
MP Simon Burns got a brief glimpse of Harry Potter’s journey to Hogwarts during a trip to York.
The Minister for Transport and Chelmsford MP hitched a ride on the Olton Hall locomotive, the engine used as the Hogwarts Express in the Harry Potter films.
Mr Burns went to York to open a new turntable which will help trains turn around and said it was enjoyable being on the famous train.
He said: “As someone who has a distant memory of steam trains on our railways, it was great fun being able to go up on the fireman’s plate.”
