Our Blockbuster is staying open - for now

THE BLOCKBUSTER store in Springfield has been given a stay of execution after administrators chose not to shut it immediately.
Deloitte, which was called in to the faltering home entertainment business last week, announced plans to close 129 shops from the chain over the next few weeks as they seek a buyer.
However, the store in Burgundy Court was not put on the list meaning staff have a temporary reprieve.
Despite this, Lee Manning, for the administrator, said more closures could still be made.
Mr Manning said: “We would like to thank the company’s employees for their support and professionalism during this difficult time."
Before entering administration, Blockbuster had 528 stores across the country employing 4,190 staff. It opened in 1989.
