First Bus has announced ticket price increases on its routes for the coming year.

Among the changes, people travelling from Chelmsford to Stansted will now pay £10 for a single journey, up from £9, while a return has gone up by 50p to £14.

On other services, an adult and child day ticket will both increase by 10p to £4.50 and £3 respectively.

Weekly tickets have risen by 50p for adults and children to £18 and £12.

Steve Wickers, regional commercial director for First Bus, said: “The company is facing many challenges during this uncertain economic climate. However, I believe First remains in a strong position to continue to deliver high quality bus services. “The fares have been kept to a minimum, mindful of our commitment to making the bus the preferred option.”
