IMAGES have been released of a man wanted in connection with an incident of racial abuse on a train near Hatfield Peverel.

A 50-year-old Eastern European woman from Maldon was subjected to the racist abuse for about 20 minutes from a male passenger who she had asked to stop swearing while talking on his mobile phone.

The incident happened on the 6.32pm service to Walton from Liverpool Street on December 7.

The man, who also threatened other passengers, is thought to have got off the train at Kelvedon.

Officers from British Transport Police believe the man pictured from CCTV footage has “key information” about the incident.

DC Alan Reed, the investigating officer, said: “We would encourage anyone who recognises the man in the picture, or knows his whereabouts, to get in touch.

“I would also like to appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.”
