FREE food waste bags will be given out to residents around Brentwood as part of a scheme to entice more recycling.

Homes will be given two rolls of orange bags which are for food which can decompose to be put in and collected by refuse workers from Brentwood Council.

The bags are going to come as part of the authority’s delivery of waste bags in the Spring with the aim of getting more people to recycle food.

Tony Sleep, councillor responsible for the environment, said: “Most of have now got used to putting our food waste separately into the caddies and then out for collection.

“Now, to help even more people recycle their food, the Council will be giving out two free rolls of the food waste liners to go in your caddies, as part of a pilot scheme.”
