HISTORY lovers will be able to spend more time in a museum in Chelmsford from Saturday.

The opening hours of the Essex Police Museum, in Kingston Crescent, Springfield, are being extended on Saturdays.

Currently the building is only open on the first Saturday of the month, between 10am and 3pm, but this will change to being open every Saturday, from 10am until 4pm.

In another change, the museum will no longer open on Wednesdays.

Becky Wash, the museum’s curator, said the new times will give people more of a chance to look at the history of the county’s police force.

Ms Wash said: “Our opening times will allow people to drop in when they aren’t at work and children aren’t at school. School groups will be able to visit during the week, but by appointment only.”
