A PRIMARY school has been promoted from satisfactory to good status by Government inspectors.

Trinity Road Primary School, in Springfield, was awarded the status by Ofsted after inspectors visited, last month.

In the report, inspectors said the school was performing well in all areas including quality of teaching, pupil behaviour and leadership.

The inspection was the first to be done since Ofsted changed the structure of the reports at the start of September, making it harder to gain good or outstanding statuses.

The report says: “If pupils arrive at the school mid-year or mid-key stage, the school makes sure they settle in well.

“The school is very successful at improving the behaviour of pupils who find it difficult to behave well.

“Leaders and managers are ambitious for their school and have brought about improvements in teaching and behaviour since the last inspection.”

Inspectors concluded the school could get outstanding status if it makes improvements in lesson planning, the marking of work and observation of pupils done by headteacher and other school leaders.

The school’s headteacher Marie Staley said she was delighted with the report adding she is “extremely proud” to be in charge there.

She said: “The inspection team were particularly impressed with our children’s behaviour, especially as one day was a non-uniform day and everyone was wearing pyjamas.”
