THE wait for thousands of festival goers is almost over – the V Festival is just hours away.

More than 160,000 revellers will descend on Hylands Park, in Chelmsford, this weekend, for one of the highlights of the UK’s music calendar.

And whether you’re interested in indie, revel in rock, dig dance or prefer pop, the V Festival has it all.

Topping this year’s bill with headline sets on the V Stage are Britpop legends Oasis and Las Vegas rockers the Killers.

Both bands have released number one albums in the last year and are sure to fire up audiences with new tracks and classic crowd pleasers.

The star-studded line-up continues with Razorlight, Lily Allen, Snow Patrol and Elbow all performing on the same stage over the two-day festival.And an impressive roster of artists is also spread across the event’s four other stages.

Big name acts Fatboy Slim and Pendulum take to the 4music Stage, and 2 Many DJs and Calvin Harris grace the Arena tomorrow.

Pop starlets come in the shape of the Saturdays and Will Young, while festival veterans are aplenty tomorrow with baggy heroes Happy Mondays, the Specials and Starsailor turning back the clock a few years.

Essex’s musical stars are also represented in tomorrow’s line-up as Brentwood’s Pixie Lott makes her debut appearance, and boy band McFly, featuring Dougie Poynter from Corringham, return to the festival.

On Sunday, Keane and the Enemy dominate the 4music Stage, with MGMT and Lady Gaga taking over the Arena. Other acts on the second day include British Sea Power, the Streets and chart-topping rapper Dizzee Rascal.

Music lovers searching out fresh new talent can catch emerging artists in the Sessions Tent.
