HELL-RAISING former frontman of the Stone Roses reminded festival goers what helped put Manchester on the musical map.

But times have moved on for Ian Brown.

The solo artist performed his latest material to a half-filled JJB Arena despite being the stage’s final act.

However it left fans more room to dance the night away to his atmospheric tracks.

Popular single Dolphins Were Monkeys roused the crowds while the minimalist, F.E.A.R brought the 45-year-old's set to a powerful finish.

But it seemed it was the Stone Roses classics that moved the Hylands Park crowds the most.

Made of Stone, Waterfall and Fools Gold, all showcased the genius behind one the coolest bands of the 90s and got fans roaring for more.

The northern legend could be forgiven for feeling disappointed in the turn out but at least those that did enjoyed the party.
