Don't forget - keep visiting this site over the weekend for news reports from V and band reviews

You've got your tickets, your tent and possibly, if you're sensible enough, a bag of baby wipes and some loo roll.

But when you finally turn up to the V Festival in Chelmsford this weekend what bands are you going to see?

The Gazette's Neil Jones helps those who can't make their minds up.

With more than 60 bands and five stages to choose from this year, some festival-goers are going to be having a bit of headache choosing which bands to go and see.

But if there is one band you definitely must see it is Muse and this year's event is all about and how much these West Country boys can rock Chelmsford's socks off.

Pound for pound they have to be the best live rock act in the world at the moment and following their last V performance a couple of years back, you would be an absolute fool to miss them.

They headline tomorrow's V Stage roughly about the same time Prodigy round off proceedings on the 4 Music Stage which may provide a few headaches for those who are keen to see the return of the Essex three-piece to the site of their greatest triumph.

Earlier on in the day Beautiful South's Paul Heaton on the Virgin Mobile Union Stage should be worth a look with his new solo stuff as should Sugababes and Estelle on the JJB Arena.

For those who don't like walking sticking around at the V Stage looks a good bet for tomorrow with the Futureheads, Maximo Park, the Kooks and Stereophonics all on before Muse.

Overall Sunday looks the better bet for fans who want to check out some cutting edge bands and what better place than the Virgin Mobile Union Stage with acts like Guillemots, Young Knives, Goldie Lookin Chain and Noah and the Whale lined-up.

And while the dream partnership of the Verve and Kings of Leon on the V Stage looks unmissable I still think the 4 Music Stage's last three of Kaiser Chiefs, the Zutons and the View should win out.

But if that doesn't tickle your tastebuds you could always go retro at the JJB Arena with the Charlatans followed by the Chemical Brothers.

Earlier on do not miss the Stranglers and Squeeze on the V Stage followed by the mighty Girls Aloud - genius.
