Muse have thrown their hats into the ring as headliners for next year’s Glastonbury Festival.

The rock band last headlined the festival in 2010, but said they’d like to try their hand at it again as part of their ongoing world tour for new album Drones.

Bassist Christopher Wolstenholme told Q magazine: “I think we would play Glasto every year if we could. It’s probably the best festival in the world.”

He added: “We’re all hoping we get to do it on this album. It’s been a while.”

Tickets for next year’s Glastonbury, which will take place from June 22-26, sold out in just 30 minutes at the weekend.

Foo Fighters – who were scheduled to headline last year until lead singer Dave Grohl broke his leg – Adele and Coldplay are all tipped by bookies as headliners.
