Ollie Locke received a welcome compliment from Green Party leader Natalie Bennett after he interviewed her as part of his work for the @useyourvoice campaign encouraging young people to vote.

The former Made in Chelsea star said: “Natalie said I remind her of Russell Brand because you never know what to expect from either of us and I took that as a compliment.”

“I love Russell Brand so much and I’ve gone to see him do stand up a couple of times, but I love him for his comedy rather than his politics. Obviously he is a very clever man who knows a lot about politics but I think he’s amazing at comedy and I prefer that side of him.”

Ollie admitted he doesn’t always see eye to eye with the comedian’s controversial political views saying: “I don’t understand why he tells people not to vote because the seven million young people who have not registered simply aren’t getting their voice heard. Too many people think that there’s no point voting because their one vote won’t count, but … it all adds up.”

Ollie was more than happy to take on the interviewer role after striking up a friendship with the party leader.

“She came across as a genuinely nice person and that’s important. I would love to share a bottle of wine with her sometimes, in a strictly professional manner of course.”

Despite this new-found friendship, Ollie has not come out in full support of the Green Party and is staying tight-lipped about which way he will be voting this year.

@useyourvoice is an independent campaign encouraging 18 to 30-year-olds to vote in the General Election.
