Adele is said to be in talks to headline Glastonbury 2016 – despite saying recently that the crowd at Worthy Farm is “too big”.

Festival booker Martin Elbourne told Loaded discussions are ongoing to bring Adele to the Pyramid Stage.

“There’s lots of talk about Adele and it’s in there in the mix,” he said. “Adele is in a situation in her career where frankly she can do whatever the hell she likes.

“Hopefully it will happen and it still needs to be confirmed. She’s not into festivals, but obviously, every promoter in the world wants to get her so fingers crossed, we are hoping it’s going to happen.”

Fellow Glastonbury booker Emily Eavis, daughter of founder Michael, said Adele has been on their wish list since 2012.

Just a month ago, Adele was asked about playing the festival on Capital London’s Breakfast Show.

“I think I have made myself pretty clear on Glastonbury,” the Oscar-winner said. “The crowds are too big. I don’t know if I could do it.”

However, Adele was snapped attending Worthy Farm this year.

“I went this year to watch Kayne (West), and I literally just c****ed my pants on the size of the audience. It was pretty insane,” she said.

Meanwhile, Blur’s Damon Albarn has dismissed rumours of a feud with the Hello singer.

The two previously revealed a planned collaboration for new album 25 failed to materalise and Adele told Rolling Stone magazine that it ended up being one of those “don’t meet your idol” moments.

Damon was also reported as saying her new music was very “middle of the road”. But he has now hit back at suggestions that there is tension between the pair.

“It’s not even true,” Damon told Time Out. “It’s amazing how people will run with stuff that has no credence whatsoever and turn it into something and then watch the reaction.”

In the wake of Adele’s comments, social media exploded.

Damon said he was stunned: “I was number five on Twitter. I mean, how pathetic is that?”

Adele’s latest album 25 is breaking records on both sides of the Atlantic.

In America, it has sold more than 2.4 million copies within four days, smashing the record previously set by US boy band *NSync in 2000 with their second album, No Strings Attached.

It is set to be the UK’s fastest-selling album ever, having sold more than half-a-million copies within its first three days, according to figures obtained by the Official Charts Company.
