Luke Perry has revealed he would like a role in Downton Abbey.
The former Beverly Hills, 90210 star admitted he is a fan of ITV’s period drama, which stars Hugh Bonneville, Michelle Dockery and Dame Maggie Smith.
“I have to give a big shout-out to the cast of Downton Abbey. That’s a big show in my house. We all watch that,” he said.
The 48-year-old actor said he would like to follow in the footsteps of American stars such as George Clooney, Paul Giamatti and Shirley MacLaine, who have previously appeared on the show.
He added: “I think it’s great. I think any actor who likes good writing would like to appear on Downton Abbey.”
Luke, who previously starred in the London production of When Harry Met Sally in 2004, returned to the capital to shoot his new film The Beat Beneath My Feet, which is the only British feature film up for a Crystal Bear award at the Berlin Film Festival.
He revealed a liking for MTV’s stunt show Dirty Sanchez – and a love for British tea.
“I’ve spent a fair bit of time in England over the years. I know it pretty well, and that’s why I’m drinking a good cup of tea right now,” he said.
“The last time I was there doing theatre, I would come home late at night and Dirty Sanchez was the show that was on. So I got into the Welsh version of Jack-Ass, you could say. I know that’s not on too many people’s list of high-brow viewing but that was the time slot I had available.”
The Beat Beneath My Feet will open nationwide at PictureHouse cinemas from May 12.
