Wii
Age 3+
RRP £29.99

Penelope Pitstop sent some hearts a flutter in the 70s, and she is still at it now in a new Wacky Races game called Crash and Dash.

At this point it is perfectly acceptable to do your very best Mutley impression.

Pretty sure there is no reason to "catch the pigeon" in this game – that was a spin off from this fabulously ancient a cheesy TV show.

And no one is ever going to forget Dick Dastardly – what an utterly brilliant name for the likeable villain – some script writer made their money the day than moniker was dreamed up.

Anyway, this is a Wii game so plenty of flailing arms of course as you play this action racer, which as you might guess is not exactly a racing sim – no GTR2 here folks.

Try to remember some of the other characters – give yourself a point for each one you remember.

Well, there's the Turbo Terrific driven by Peter Perfect; the Ant Hill Mob in the Bullet Proof Bomb, the glam Penelope of course in the Compact Pussycat (they were a little naughty in the 70s), plus The Slag Brothers (erm…?) in the Bouldermobile, The Gruesome Twosome in the Creepy Coupe, Professor Pat Pending in the Convert-a-Car, Red Max in the Crimson Haybailer, Sergeant Blast and Private Meekly in the Army Surplus Special, Lazy Luke and Blubber Bear in the Arkansas Chuggabug, and Rufus Ruffcut and Sawtooth in the Buzz Wagon.

Dick never won the races for some reason. No wonder he had a chip on his shoulder.

Wacky is used a lot in this game – wacky widgets give you wacky powers, and it's all to become the wackiest racer of them all.

There are 24 wacky courses with plenty of chances to do wacky damage to the rest of the field.

Good fun – and the kids will love it. I loved it. There, I said it.
