See Geno Washington and the Ram Jam play for free at Kelvedon

GET along and make some noise at the 11th Kelvedon Music Festival.

The huge, free event takes place on Saturday, and boasts its biggest, and, arguably, best line-up.

A staggering range of local talent has been booked to perform seven hours of live music across two stages, at the Recreation Ground, off the High Street opposite the United Reformed Church.

Starting at noon, Geno Washington and the Ram Jam Band headline the main stage, while headlining the Essex Rocks Stage is Colchester indie outfit Cav OK.

Geno Washington and the Ram Jam Band made their name in the UK in the Sixties, and in their peak, they were only outsold by the Sound of Music and Bridge over Troubled Water.

Wivenhoe poet Martin Newell will introduce the main stage bands, all of whom have an Essex connection, including Geno, who served in Essex during his days with the United States Air Force.

The volunteer-organised festival will be kick started by Twisted Logistics, the talented trio of students who won the Kelvedon Battle of the Bands competition in February.

Other bands include Three Miles High, AloneMe, the Big Boys, Cling, Curly Circus and Jazmine Ava.

Cav OK will be supported by Angry vs the Bear, Fashoda Crisis, the Rascos, Von Jergo, Miss Cosmos and Another Dead Hero.

Also on the Essex Rocks Stage will be Braintree’s Live and Unsigned finalists, In Equinox.

There is no parking at the venue but there are plenty of spaces at Kelvedon railway station, and at St Mary’s Primary School.
