A FUNDRAISING music evening is taking place at the Colchester Arts Centre this weekend.
The concert is being organised by the parents of Colchester musician George Eady, pictured, who died of a brain tumour last year, aged 21, and as well as raising money for the Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust, it will provide a fund for a prize in George’s honour.
The George Eady Prize for Creative Thinking will be given to a student at Brighton University, where George studied.
Father John said: “George won an innovation award for a chess set he designed to encourage young children to play the game, and the prize is being set up to reward students there who come up with similar innovative ideas.”
Heavily involved in the local music scene, playing with Peter Cat, the former Philip Morant and Sixth Form College student also helped design several bands’ artwork. He started his own record label and put on gigs in and around Colchester and Ipswich.
Bands playing on the Saturday night, from 7pm, include Dogtanian, the Devil May Care and Malarky. There will also be an auction.
Tickets are £10. Call 01206 797952 or 01206 790837, or buy one on the night.
